End versus delete – know the difference
On eBay, you do not usually hard-delete an active listing so much as end it. Ending it pulls it from the marketplace so nobody can buy it. Ended listings hang around in your records for a while, which is actually useful for relisting later or checking your own history.
So when someone says delete a listing, what they almost always want is to end it cleanly and stop new sales. Keep that distinction in mind and you will not go looking for a delete button that does not behave the way you expect.
End a listing without drama
Go to your active listings, find the item, and choose to end it. eBay will ask why – the item is no longer available, there is an error in the listing, or similar. Pick the honest reason. If there are already bids or a sale in progress, ending gets trickier and can affect your standing, so handle those carefully rather than yanking them.
The golden rule: never let something stay live that you can no longer actually ship. Selling an item you do not have leads to cancellations, unhappy buyers, and dings on your account. End it the moment it is gone.
