Depop Shipping Label Won’t Generate – The Fix

An item sold, you go to print the label, and Depop just will not generate it. The buyer is waiting, your ship-fast rating is on the line, and the button is doing nothing. Do not panic – this is almost always a quick fix. Run the checklist.

Why the label won’t generate

Label failures usually come down to one of a few things: a missing or incomplete address, an item weight or size that was not set, an app that needs updating, a payment or payout detail that is not verified, a browser or connection hiccup, or a temporary glitch on Depop’s shipping partner. New accounts sometimes cannot pull a label until verification is fully complete.

The fix, step by step

  • Confirm you are actually using Depop’s own shipping option for that sale – buyer-arranged or your-own-shipping orders will not produce a Depop label.
  • Check the buyer’s address is complete, then check your own shipping-from address is filled in.
  • Make sure the listing had a weight and package size; add or edit it if it is blank.
  • Update the app, or switch to the website and try there.
  • Log out and back in to refresh your session, then retry.
  • Verify your payment and payout details are fully set up.
  • Still stuck after an hour? It may be a shipping-partner outage – wait and retry, and contact Depop support if it persists.

If you are close to breaching a ship-by window because of a genuine glitch, message the buyer a friendly heads-up. A quick “your label is having a tech hiccup, shipping today” keeps them happy and protects your review.

When one label breaks, don’t let it break your day

A single failed label is annoying. A whole batch of orders you cannot ship is a business problem. That is why I do not run shipping out of one platform’s buttons alone. Keeping your listings and sales synced through a crosslister means your fulfillment is organized in one place – Nifty detects the sale across marketplaces and keeps your inventory straight, so you are not juggling separate broken screens on every app. List once, sell everywhere, ship from a system.

And the repetitive side of shipping – things like re-checking weights across a big catalog so labels stop failing, or bulk-fixing shipping details after a platform changes its rates – is exactly the kind of catalog-wide chore I hand to Claude instead of clicking through hundreds of listings by hand. (Claude is an AI that works like a virtual assistant – it actually controls your computer for you and automates the boring stuff. Use my link and you may qualify for a free week to test it, subject to availability: https://claude.ai/referral/LJhm3qPEVQ) The how-to for bulk catalog fixes is in my AI Reselling Playbook.

Bottom line

A label that won’t generate is nearly always a missing address, a blank weight, an outdated app, or a passing outage. Work the checklist, tell the buyer if there is a delay, and build your shipping on a system so one broken label never sinks your day.
