Between October 7 and 9, 2026, Whatnot updated its Card Breaks Policy, its Gambling and Purchase-Based Prize Policy, its Surprise Sets Policy, and its Professionally Sealed Surprise Products policy.<\/p>\n
Starting December 7, 2026, professionally sealed surprise products cannot contain graded or packaged items with NFC, RFID, or similar scannable chips unless each one is shielded in a blocking sleeve, bag, or box. That stops anyone from scanning sealed product to find the valuable card.<\/p>\n
Whatnot is facing claims from nearly 70 customers who say breaks are illegal gambling, plus a separate California lawsuit. Whatnot denies the claims, but tightening its own rules is a clear signal that it wants randomized selling to look clean.<\/p>\n
If you run shows with a big catalog, every listing and every show format now has to match the new rules. Going through 1,000 listings at about 45 seconds each is roughly twelve and a half hours, before you even look at your show scripts. And Whatnot changed four policies in three days, so expect more edits.<\/p>\n
