I have been running my reselling business with AI for a long time, and I just did something I did not expect. I canceled my $200 a month Claude plan and moved to ChatGPT for desktop. A few of you have asked, so here is the honest story.<\/p>\n
My biggest problem was Claude’s safety refusals. For me, they were overactive. When you use AI to run a business, you are asking it to do ordinary work again and again, and every time a tool second guesses a normal task, you lose time and momentum. I kept running into that, and it wore me down.<\/p>\n
Here is the example that finally broke me. Claude refused to do data entry for me, specifically recording my shipping fees into my sales log. That is a system Claude built on its own. It created the system, and then it would not do the basic job of putting data into it. I could not make sense of that, and I was paying $200 a month for it.<\/p>\n
Buying is the same story. Claude refused to buy mailing labels or place dropship purchases for me. ChatGPT will do both. The only thing it asks for is a safeguard: a dollar limit that I say is safe to buy under. I set the limit once and it handles the rest. That is a sensible guardrail, not a wall.<\/p>\n
The part that still bugs me is that it came out of nowhere. I had a well oiled process that Claude and I brainstormed, built and perfected together over months. Then one day it was all gone. It refused to do the very things we had built together. I moved the same setup to ChatGPT and it ran with zero issues.<\/p>\n
I moved over to ChatGPT for desktop, and it was able to run all of my Claude skills seamlessly and instantly. I did not have to rebuild my setup from scratch. It also did the work in a fraction of the time. That was the moment I knew the switch was worth it.<\/p>\n
A quick honest note: I do not usually support ChatGPT because of the political money tied to the company, including donations to Trump. That matters to me. But at the end of the day I am running a business, and the business has to run smoothly. Right now this is the tool that lets it do that.<\/p>\n
At $200 a month, my Claude plan was $2,400 a year. When another tool does the same jobs faster and does not push back, that number gets hard to justify. I canceled, and I am so thankful I did.<\/p>\n
There is no way to know. These tools change every few weeks, and the one that is best for you today may not be the best next quarter. As of right now, I am happy where I am. If that changes, I will tell you.<\/p>\n
To be fair, it is not perfect. So far there is exactly one thing ChatGPT will not do for me: accept Poshmark offers. It calls them a binding transaction and stops, even when I give it my own rules for which discounts are okay. So for now, that is the only job I still have Claude running, and only until my billing cycle runs out. After that I will find another solution. ChatGPT handles all of my other offers without a fuss.<\/p>\n
Do not marry a tool. Keep your instructions in plain language so you can move them when something better comes along. And remember that the AI assistant is the helper, not the engine.
