You go to post an item and Facebook rejects the listing, or worse, you get a warning that your Marketplace access is at risk. It is unsettling because Facebook rarely spells out exactly what you did. The good news is that most of these are recoverable, and the fix is usually straightforward.
Why listings get blocked or flagged
Facebook reviews listings when its systems detect a possible policy violation or when someone reports one. Common triggers are prohibited or restricted items (weapons, animals, certain health products), listings that look like spam or duplicates, misleading titles or prices, or images that break the rules. An at risk warning means you are getting close to a suspension, so it is a nudge to clean things up before access is limited.
How to fix it
- Read the notice. Facebook usually names the policy or gives a See what happened link with details.
- If the listing was rejected in error, request a review – go to your profile, open Professional or Account status, find Marketplace, select the flagged listing, and click Request review.
- If you genuinely broke a rule, edit or remove the offending listing. On a first, minor strike you may be able to clear the warning even if that listing stays down.
- Repost compliant items cleanly – accurate title, honest price, allowed category, and clear photos that follow the rules.
Responses to a review request often come within a few business days. Do not spam new versions of a rejected listing while you wait – repeated violations are what turn an at risk warning into an actual suspension. Confirm the current appeal steps in Facebook’s Help Center, since the menus move around.
Do not let one platform hold your income hostage
Marketplace can be unpredictable, which is the whole reason I never rely on a single channel. Nifty lets you list once and sell everywhere, so if Facebook limits your access for a few days, your inventory is already live and selling on your other marketplaces and your income does not flatline.
Here is the honest part: Facebook Marketplace is one platform many crosslisters do not natively post to. That is a real gap – and a fair place to let AI help. Getting your existing catalog posted onto Marketplace when your crosslister will not do it for you is a specific job you can hand to Claude. I walk through that exact workaround in my AI Reselling Playbook.
Bottom line
A blocked listing or at risk warning is usually a policy trip you can fix – read the notice, request a review, clean up the listing, and slow down. Sell across more than one place so no single platform can switch off your business.
