Photofig Review: A Photoroom Alternative for Reseller Product Photos

Looking for a product photo editor that does not fight you? I have been using Photofig for my listing photos, and it has quickly become my go-to. Here is my honest review, and why it earned that spot.

What Photofig is

Photofig is a product photo editor built for online sellers. It is made in Switzerland, and Karolis Tamutis is the person who builds and runs it. The main things it does:

  • Background removal, with a brush to clean up tricky edges.
  • AI backgrounds from a written prompt, while your product stays exactly as it is.
  • Product shadows that match the scene.
  • A magic eraser for logos and marks, plus AI upscaling.
  • A canvas editor with layers, transforms and version history.
  • Batch workflows and catalog resizing, with export sizes for marketplaces like eBay, Etsy, Shopify and Amazon.
  • A WooCommerce connection and an API for bigger shops.

What it costs

There is a free plan with 30 new photos and 15 AI credits a month, no card needed. Paid plans start at $9.95 a month, and go up from there if you need more credits and batch exports. Plans change, so check the pricing page before you decide.

The real reason I like it: the person behind it listens

Features matter, but this is the part that sold me. When I message Karolis, I hear back within the hour. And when I ask for something, it shows up fast. I have asked for new features and had them within a day.

Here is the story I tell everyone. I mentioned that background removal felt a little slow. I did not file a ticket or ask for a fix. He went into the product, saw that my photos were stalling, and within a day he had a permanent fix in place. I did not even ask him to. I have never had that from a software company.

That is why I think Photofig can grow past what the bigger names ever will. A tool that listens to its customers and ships changes in a day improves faster than one that makes you wait in a support queue behind a bot.

How it compares to Photoroom

I used Photoroom for a long time, and it is still a well known name. But its latest changes have frustrated a lot of sellers, including me. Tools I relied on went missing, others got buried in menus, and copying an element from one photo into another no longer works the way it should. I covered that in a separate post. I could not find a tool Photoroom had that Photofig does not, so for me the switch cost nothing.

The cost of a slow photo workflow

Take a catalog of 1,000 listings. If your photo editing adds just two extra minutes per listing, that is 2,000 minutes, over 33 hours, or more than four working days. And it comes back every time your catalog grows or your editor changes. It feels like work, but nobody pays you for the hours you lose to it. A tool that does the batch work for you gives those days back.

Where AI fits in

Nifty is still the engine that creates your listings, crosslists them and detects your sales. Photofig handles the photos before that step. One gap neither covers is checking every photo in your catalog against a marketplace’s photo rules before they cause a problem. An AI assistant can do that across the whole catalog, and the exact prompt is inside the AI Reselling Playbook.

Bottom line

Photofig does the job, it has a free plan to test, and the person running it actually listens. If your current editor is slowing you down, give it a try with a handful of real photos. Do less busywork, earn more.
